Try downloading the latest release of the EFILive site. Downloads Download the first two files on that page, if that works I think you will have to download the USB driver also. I'll check more into that and let you know.
|
when you download the latest versions of efi live, there is a word document that is downloaded with it too, its in the start menu under the efi live > v7
it should tell you how to set up the controller and update the firmware and bootblocker. and in the tuning program go to help and register efilive and enter the serial number, ther v2 version you have would be the commercial scan and tune |
efi live have a forum on thier website also. you can get direct awsners about the sofware and updates on thier website from the guys who created efi live.

ok. so i think the problem was my computer. i went out and just bought another one. i got it all installed and i played with the scanner a lil bit. but now im kinda clueless on what to do.

did you read that word doccument that came in the file when u downloaded the efi v7?
what versions of firmware and bootblock do you have on the v2? your v2, efi live v7.5 and v8.1 are most likely out of date since you just got your stuff. that word doccument that is installed under start>efilive>v7.5> and there should be a work doccument there, im not at home so i cant tell u exactly. but it should tell hour exatly how to update your v2 and programs. also: After Installing: When the installation has finished, EFILive will check for updates. If EFILive does not automatically check for an update after the initial installation, please select the start menu option: Start->All Programs->EFILive->V7.5->Tools->Check for New Update.
Most likely an update will be available and should be installed to ensure you have the most up to date software. The update usually takes 1-2 minutes and will display a message to indicate when it has completed. i can help out in more detail when i get back home monday mornin. |
Also on the efi website they have turotials and some doccumentation on there under the downloads section
Downloads just scroll down a bit :U: |
ok thanks guys. im now tryin to figure out how to load a custom tune. i downloaded one from the internet.i have read my ecm and saved it to a disk. now what do i need to change on the tune i downloaded to make it work for my truck.iv read something about tire size and os need to match my truck. anyone know?
|
you can start off by modifying the stock tune.
first keep a copy of the stock tune on a disk and keep it somewhere, and one on the puter and one on another puter. so u can always have the stock tune in there. do you have your old tuner still? theres some people who would help out getting you stated with a tune, small changes too about 4 tables is what most tuners do. when using the tuning tool there is a brief description about the table in. alot of them typically modify tables B0720, B0721, B0727, and B0910. |
if by old tuner you mean my quadzilla? yes i still have it but returned it to stock before i started playin with efi. im so confused with all of this. are there like any people who can sit down with u and explain this stuff:argh:

Once Danny gets you started he's got a good thread here to help learn some basics of what to start messing with as far as fueling goes. https://www.dieselbombers.com/durama...ly-primer.html :U:

I have 2001 duramax with hypertech set on 70, pulling a 34 5th wheel trailer and I got a check engine lite/lost pulling power. checked the code with the hypertech and it gave me a P0093 code. I can clear it but it comes back within 25 miles. Any Ideals?

a clogged filter can cause that, but the code means there is a large leak in the fuel system. what was the last time u changed the fuel filter |
is there a way to load for comparison two tunes that dont have the same OS #?
|
hmm, dont know a way if there is.
|
so is it not possible to load a tune that i downloaded off the internet with a different OS# into my truck?
|
I never tried loading a tune with a different OS# into my truck. You can script the tune and make a new one using your OS.
|
alright. i guess ill try and figure that out. thanks
|
you can find a stock tune with the same OS as the one you are wanting to put in your truck, then compare that one and the one you want to put in. Then create a script from that, save and close. open up your stock tune and run that script over it

i have upgraded my os to dsp2 so when you say open my stock tune and run the script over, would i just open up my dsp2 tunes and then run the script over?? and how do i know what script to choose? |
okay you've done the dsp upgrade to your stock tune right, now you want to populate those tables with the ones from a different tune? Sorry just trying to figure out what exactly your after here :U:
|
yea. i did the dsp ugrade with a econ tune and a race tune. i want to change the race tune i have with a race tune i downloaded off the internet. i have figured out how to do it but it was from copy/paste. im just tryin to learn more about how to use a script now.

does anyone know how to make a good staging set up with the dsp 5. i set the throttle to like 60%, speed limit AT around 2MPH, and a high boost limit. i want it to hold steady around 2000 rpm's. where would i limit the fuel , at 2000rpm? how far would you drop it
|
are you saying you dont want it to go over 200rpms
|
yeah, i dont want it to go over 2000 rpm's and 18 psi while staging.
|
:humm: whenever i stage for a 4wd launch i just stand on the brakes and build up the boost i need stalling out the converter.
you could make a dsp5 tune that only fuels up to 2k rpms and then switch it before launh, bt that takes too much work. making a dsp5 tune where you hold say like a 40-60% throttle and have it sit at 2k rpms while having it cut out the fuel to hold 18psi sounds. and when you get over 80% throttle its WOT all the way. :humm: sounds we gonna have to play with the tuning a bit |
isnt that what the staging section on the dsp5 for? i didnt know you would have to write a whole new tune. i thought you could just change those four tables under the staging section. im confused now.:argh: what do the staging tables do then?
|
are you talking about tables A0136, A0137, A0138?
|
yeah
|
Heres some posts i found over on another site about using a different table help with staging. malibu795 has a 2wd so using brake torque as a staging technique helps for him and he dont spin the tires while staging

(g0908) If brake torque management is active due to high throttle position, then it must fall below this value to be disabled Brake torque management is used to reduce engine power if the vehicle is stationary with your foot on the brake and the accelerator is pressed. these two tell when to activate and deactive brake torque when both brake and thorttle are pushed. and is controll via TPS%. the principle here is you mash the throttle and the engine governs to a set amount say 30% tps that is all the engine will do unitl it sense the wheels are truning then back to your normal operation proceedures. g0909 -When brake torque limiting becomes active, this is the engine torque limit that will be applied. Brake torque management is used to reduce engine power if the vehicle is stationary with your foot on the brake and the accelerator is pressed. this tell the engine how much calcualted tq it can apliy at when brake tq is activated.. g0906 brake tq speed If the vehicle speed is below this value, then the brake torque management can be activated. Brake torque management is used to reduce engine power if the vehicle is stationary with your foot on the brake and the accelerator is pressed. this says when to activate/deactivate via truck speed. i would set this between 0-5mph would help when stageing in the lights what i would do is start about here get 0907 at 20% and 0908 at 30% once the truck goes above the brake tq speed you get full power. it will take soem trial and error to find out what is good for you and the said tune in the truck. hope that gets you a head start and some ideas to play with  i might do something like this and could be very useful in launch a 2wd truck :D

Thanks for the input. Wouldnt you want the speed set to Zero, since you wnt the TM to deactivate when you release the brake and start moving?

with mph @ 0 once the tire move to 1 mph all your brake tq limit stuff is deactivated and you go to 100% power once the brake is released you go to 100% power anyway so if wont affect leaving hte line. helps you controll the power getting to the line |
