From what I have read there is a BIG secret spin on what "they" are planning with respect to the Dodge and the RAM name. I suspect that Dodge will keep everything under a specific GVW and the RAM will be moved to a commercial arm carrying the sprinter and or the Sterling type trucks. I could be wrong but this is what I would consider to make sense.:pca1:

The trucks are going to be called RAM kinda like the Jeep name. They are splitting them from Dodge because Dodge is dead weight while the Ram line and the Jeep line are the ONLY thing turning a profit for Chrysler (minivans as well). This re-branding is to keep the Dodge name from killing the truck line and allows Fiat to sell off the Ram Truck line and Jeep line or keep them and dump and/or bury Chrysler/Dodge. In the end it is a smart move on their part. You will now have Ram Dakota, Ram 1500, Ram 2500, Ram 3500 and the C&C trucks. Dodge will have the Durango, the car line and the minivan line. This will allow the Fiat dealers and the Chrysler dealer to sell trucks and not have to carry the competing Dodge car line since Chrysler has a bad habit of sharing platforms. This is why the GMC truck line was created. So the Pontiac, Buik and Caddy dealers could sell trucks and not have to carry the Chevy car lines. IMO this move is a good one to keep the compnay solvent and stable and clean up the mess.
