Unkown 1999 Jeep Cherokee Diesel

That's what it looks like. It has an original 2.5L 116hp engine and its torque is as good as the 4.0L I6
It's an Italian VM engine and has reliability issues due to the bad splitted head design.(They are kown to blow their head off on the Autobahn)

So the engine has to be warmed up carefully, but it gives good mileage: around 28 to 30 mpg. It's fun to drive because of the good torque.
Ricers look unhappy, because it's chipped up to 145 hp and 350Nm of torque

Sweet! I didn't realize they put diesels in Cherokees, must be a fun toy>

Cool find :U:
There were a few Diesel Cherokees produced here in the 80's but are very rare

Everything, and I mean everything in EU that even resembles a north american car or truck has an oil burner option.

Let's just say we are way behind.

The 2.5L was replaced with the more reliable 3.0L that they put in the non-50 state Liberty (Cherokee). This has the same ratings but doesn't fall apart. The 3.0L V6 is a great little block but was discontinued over here as it wasn't Tier 3 compliant.

This is the block to put in any dodge product with a tired old V8 as it performs almost as well in the get up and go department but doesn't suck fuel with 8 HUGE straws. In fact if you had the money and time I bet it would make a great motor for the Dakota, Durango and even the smaller 1500 pickups.

Could you tell me if there is a ccv mod for the crd 2.8l as it is a mv motor also
I have just purchased a 2006 jeep liberty crd with 31,400 miles i read that they have a lot of blow by:argh:
Wandering if it could be done like the 7.3l powerstroke

Nice!

:rocking:

I also have a Cherokee 2.5 TD! Quite common in Europe. Hugely underrated JEEP. You can buy everything with this engine quite cheaply. There are many ZJ with the same engine.

The VM engine delivers fantastic performance with good consumption, although it's not the latest tecnology around... Rugged, agricultural as it may be, it still is a pleasent engine. And with the proper care it can do over 500.000Kms without major work ( heads rotation, and new gaskets area must but i look at it as maitenance!).

I've seen many in old RRovers!!!
