Unhappy with prices.
I wen't into huckstorf yesterday to have a price quoted on stacks, i was looking for the black 5 inch mitre's with the Y pipe assembely. For the chrome stacks i was givin the price of $720.00 and black was 790.00. The black stacks for just the stacks were $90 each and somehow it came out to more than the chrome which was $10 more for each stack. And a buddy of mine bought his stacks from huckstorf which is the whole reason i went there for $550.00 with the Y pipe and everything and he bought the aussie stack kit! So i don't know if i was priced wrong, or if they are just trying to charge more. I'm not sure but i was unhappy with my price, and I found much cheeper kits on the internet... overall i was unhappy.
I can't even begin to answer for this shop in particular, I've never been there myself but after being in the trailer business for some years I may be able to offer some explanation here.
Especially here in the last few years wholesale prices for anything built with metal have fluctuated out of control. I came to the point where I wouldn't quote a price without calling the wholesaler first unless I had the item in stock and that quote was only good for two days. That hitch that I got for $100 yesterday may cost me $200 today at my cost, and that's no exaggeration. It was horrible, one of the reasons I got out of the parts business. You can't even blame the wholesalers because it was all about the prices for the metal itself.
So in the end this price difference may not have been up to them so much as up to they're supplier. Just a thought.

My questions would be are they PART NUMBER FOR PART NUMBER? How long ago did your buddy purchase his set? And your last sentence, a good reason in itself pricing goes up. I know LOYAL customers are apt to get better pricing than just going to Ebay or looking for an armchair diesel shop.
