Old topic on "out of park-reverse door ajar" alarm

I recently purchased a 2004 Ram and the previous owner had the so called ""safety feature" flashed (i.e., out of park-reverse door ajar alarm) activated. I have looked on the past treads and found that all of you really enjoy this safety feature as I do!! I have not read of any satisfactory means of eliminating the feature once installed. On my 2004 fastening the seat belt does not work! I do not want to remove the horn, my dealer refuses to reverse the program, etc. etc.

Reading through the treads I saw where Chemmins, back in 2010, suggested that the door ajar wires be jumped. I like that idea and want to give it a try but do not know what wired to jump, how to remove the door panel if required, etc. to try this method. By the way I have found that the door ajar reverse alarm is only activated when the drivers door is open. Chrysler must not give a darn about the passengers!! What a great safety feature!! All they had to do is to fix the shift mechanism but that would take some engineering on their part and cost more than a little programming.

I thank all of you in advance for any help you can offer!

P.S. Yes I know that we are all suppose to be responsible drivers and keep the door closed when in reverse and yes I can hook up to a trailer or impalement using only the mirrors. So please no snide remarks!!! Just kidding!:tttt:

I hate it also. Real pain when backing up to a trailer. Can't just jump out and check for alignment/distance. :s:

I hate it too... most of the time, mine will catch when parked, sometimes, when I'm faster at opening the door and throwing it into park, is when it sets off for me. I just turn the engine off to make it quit. :argh:
