DRW vs. SRW MPG

Is it a certainty that a DRW will get worse/far worse/ or the same MPG as SRW? Considering everything else is identical about the trucks. :tu:

Thx

DRW will get worse..

Bigjfrank 03-18-2012 09:37 PM

are we talking way worse than a SRW 3/4 ton or just 1 or 2 MPG?

03Powerstroke 03-18-2012 09:38 PM

depends, i'd say 1-4 depending on brand, year, ect..

And then a dually would get way worse mileage? Would 15-16 be unreasonable w/o towing?

03Powerstroke 03-18-2012 09:51 PM

im not sure with the newer ones.. mine is a SRW 1 ton and i can get 17-18 highway.. my friends dually gets 16.. but he drives alot slower than me

yea, I had heard that the DRW will be a better ride when towing, and we have about 8k lb's to tow with our TT, and will want to step up to a 5th wheel in the next 2-3 years, probaly 10-12k lb's.

Anyone else? Am I crazy for going DRW

The DRW will get slightly worse fuel economy unladen, though not likely to a significant degree. A lot will depend on your driving style and modifications performed. :tu:

It will be an 09 GMC 3500 CC DRW bone stock, no mods (want to keep warranty), I will drive about 60-65 on my DD and tow at about 60. No need to hurry. I want this thing to get maximum MPG's.
