ok i have a guy wanting to trade me a 01 ext cab 4x4 duramax for my cummins. its efi live tuned with a stock trany but he said it holds great. should i be concerened about trany upgrades? i love my truck but ready for somethin different. my thing is i know they are expensive as hell to work on compared to mine...but i do really like them. also he said the injectors are 6 months old. what do you guys think? heres pics of them both, mine comes up but have to click on his..

LINK doesn't work:nope::td: His truck will be 5 years newer than your truck

Trade straight across? How many miles on each?

Whats wrong with his? It one of those things that seem to good to be true. Find out where he got the injectors from, they might be from Pensacola diesel and those only last 6 months if they work at all. I would also be leery of the stock transmission behind an efi live tuned engine. Just my .02.

IMO that is a lot of miles for a dmax. Your Cummins will definetly out last that dmax. Guess it all depends on what you want. I personally would not do it, but best of luck to you on what ever you choose.

Local dealer here has a 06 Dmax with 196,000 miles and still wants $17,900 :argh:

cumminspwrram59 07-18-2011 09:17 PM

not so much in my opinion even with the miles you got on urs i would still keep it. a dmax with that many miles on it seems in my opinion like a ticking time bomb. just my .02 take it for what its worth

2MuchJunk 07-18-2011 10:02 PM

225k you should still get lots of life out of the D-max. It depends on which truck you like better. Some one here are crazy for the Cummins and will tell you to stay with what you have. I on the other hand do not like Dodge trucks and would trade the guy trucks.

Honestly, both engines have a good amount of wear on them.

mine was bone stock untill 321k and never even had a hitch on it, still has original paint on the turbo and valve covers so i pretty much know what its been through...or hasnt. just seems like i would be dumb to not trade a a truck that books for 12,500 and mine books for 5100. he wants to meet up saturday morning

H.R.D 07-19-2011 12:27 PM

Are you going to trade then sale? If so then hell ya do it if you are planning on keeping it then the price has nothing to do with it.

oil_burner 07-19-2011 01:07 PM

maybe trade and try to trade it for a clean 5 speed cummins lol. i would never ever get rid of mine if it was a 5 speed

I can't believe how people take stock in book value, just keep in mind KBB dosn't buy or sell cars :c:

aguilar_15 07-20-2011 03:21 PM

Yup if you're plannin on tradin it down the road, soon, sure why not . But me personally, I'd keep the Cummins, period :scare2:. But in the end it's your decision man, just our $.02

oil_burner 07-25-2011 03:46 PM

i kept her! put my 4k gsk in thursday night and couldnt part with it lol. but wow that gsk wakes it up like crazy...and i may have picked up a ats 5 star converter also. i got it for cheap and couldnt pass it up even though my trany is in great shape the way it is now
