just a thought on engine venting
Has anyone ever seen the blow-by hose ran into the exhaust or did this?
IMO i would thing running it into the exhaust would cause it to vacuum out crank case pressures and make the engine run better and also most likely gain fuel mileage :humm: |
I think doing this you would just end up with exhaust in the crankcase.
i was just thinking about that...but if the angle was right it would work the same as a paint gun or air brush wouldn't it?
Yeah, I guess theoretically it could work, but you'd have to create a venturi in the exhaust system somehow to create the low pressure area. And then you'd create more exhaust backpressure, losing any efficiency you would have gained, if you gained any.
guess it was a stupid idea....i really just feel like more venting is needed with moded trucks
i had it on my drag car, it was a 406 sbc and didn't have baffles in the valve cover, so oil would go everywhere lol. they sell kits for it to go into the headers.
it helps high end rpm's it relieves the pressures so that it can rev easier. plus gets rid of all the blowby and such. i can't remember off of the top of my head but there is a certain angle that they have to be or it doesn't work, but if they are in right you can definetly tell a difference in how the engine revs and sounds up high. |
so there is such a thing...thanks man...do you think it would be worth it on a high performance diesel engine?
hmmm interesting concept :humm:
never even thought of one on a diesel pickup. my thinking might be that the high drive pressures the trubo takes makes the pressures in the exhaust higher than a gas vehicle, if the angle isn't perfect it will only pressurize the crankcase.
JEGS Performance Products 30739 JEGS Universal Crankcase Evacuation/O2 Fitting Kit here is a link to it, you just get a breather and some hose and connect the two lol. |
