beating rich cocky kids...

First off want to say Awesome site guys...Glad to be part of it! My question is I have about $2500 to play with.Do I dump it in my truck and if so what? Or do I buy my buddies 96 12v engine and tranny for $2200. Engine and tranny have 101,000 on it.Tranny has new torque converter and engine has the kpd done already, nothing more nothing less.. I'm just sick of these couple kids talking crap with there duramax's and being able to some what back it cause mommy and daddy... I do know that they only got edge chip and exhaust for most part but still they pull on me and I want to blow them away so they stay away... Any help would be great thanks!!

So you are talking about doing a swap in your ford? Do it. Lots of people do it now, so the information is out there, just be ready to drop a bit more money into it for the whole swap, and a few weeks with no truck. But I would do it. And this way, you can build the motor trans with it out of the truck. Makes things a lot easier.

Yea I plan to drop it in the idi that way I still have my powerstroke until its complete and like you said I can then do some modding with the motor/tranny out.. Still tho would like to get as much info as possible so I know what I'm in for.. How much you thinking it will cost? Besides having the motor/trans idk what I need besides engine mounts, speaking of which destroked has a engine mounting kit for $ 455 then a list of parts under it and prices.. Does the kit come with all that or is it just the motor mounts? They haven't got back to me in over a week yet..

If you want to go fast on the cheep buy the 12V for under 1K you can make those P-Pumpers run like a bat outta hell. and we can help ;)
offer him 1800 cash for the 12V

I figure I will still be ahead buying the cummins and doing the diy mods and what not then to put that money into the powerstroke.. What ever is gunna get me the best results at the end id like to shoot for.. Once again thank you guys for the input, what would we do without each other:c:

I don't know how much for the swap itself, but you can build the trans yourself for a 1000 bucks for 500hp. And another 2000 bucks in the motor (studs and used turbo, used injectors, along with pump mods) would probably get you more than that.

So the price of the swap, plus 3k (maybe less), and you'll have a 500ish horsepower truck, that runs good :D If you go over 500hp, then add another 700 bucks for the input shaft.

I think 500 is a good # that way its still a nice streetable daily driver, and if want more I'd just get spray... So if I was to put $2500 into my powerstroke how far do you think if be along the 500hp goal? idc if its a cummins conversion or my powerstroke just want as much power for the money..If I buy the cummins I'd have roughly a grand to put into it after installing it.. Or I can just dump all into my powerstroke.. which ever is gunna give the most and still be good daily driver

madmikeismad 02-11-2011 07:07 PM

I can't help with the pstroke stuff, but I'm biased so I'm gonna say all the money would have to go into just to keep it running :D

If it was me I would stick with the powerstroke. If you buy the Cummins for $2200 and have $0 in the actual swap that only gives you $300 to play with. In all reality you will have more than that in the swap. So what you will end up with is a stock 12v and even though you might be able to turn a 12v up to take a D-Max no stock one is going to.

Encourage em a little more. Tell em to have Nos installed, make their truck more fuel efficient, and gain a little more power. Next thing you know, they got a blown engine, and your still driving along. :tu:
