Chrome or Stainless Stacks in Winter climates?

Hey guys, the title says it all. I live up here in WI. I'm wanting to put stacks on my Dually. I found these: Chrome Stacks: 5" Chrome Truck Stacks

The price is good, I was looking at the 5" x 60" Bull Haulers. I plan to run them up in front of my flatbed and beside the cab. I think it will look good.

Do you think I'll be sorry running Chrome stacks here in the winter-land? I know I can get stainless stacks, but they're typically more $$$. Guess I'm looking for guys opinions on this and what your experience has been.

I suggest stainless. I'm in se wisconsin. On my 2nd set of chrome pipes and both have had rust form on them. Salt cancer in the winter eats em up if you don't wash off regularly.

Here's a good thing to ponder. I've never seen stainless bull haulers.... I know grand rock doesn't make em, neither does MBRP. Anybody make em?

If you're going to buy these stacks, I would paint them flat black with high temp paint, otherwise I think they're going to rust. What color is your truck?

It's a black truck, with black (ok rust) flatbed. I'm not painting flat black. I'll put in a side dump first.

What about the powder coat chrome options out there? Anybody seen them to see how good or bad they look? I could put together a set of Cat stacks and have powder coated with chrome....

My opinion here.....

My first choice would always be stainless. A little more $$$ but it stands up to most conditions. That comes with the caveat of stainless still takes a little work to keep it looking good too. It's just more durable. The powder coated chrome doesn't look bad when you consider what it is. It takes a pretty good amount of abuse but like any painted surface, if you break the surface it will open it up to rust. The shine isn't like real chrome but still looks pretty good. Price wise this is probably your best option and it doesn't look like everybody else's stuff anyway.
Stay safe out there.

I would go stainless. Chrome will look good till it starts to rust. Stainless will eventually tarnish but with some work can always be brought back to how it originally was. When chrome goes thats pretty well the end of it.
