Smarty or EFI Live?

2 trucks,

a 04 dodge, intake, exhaust and smarty TNT

or

an 03 Dmax intake exhaust and EFI Live

considering all other variables were the same (i.e. tire size) who would win?

cummin_un_glued 01-22-2011 09:31 PM

the chevy depending on the EFI tune....500hp is possible on all stock parts on a LB7 with the correct tune, but that's givin that the trans will hold it.....havnt seen anyone make 500 on a CR with a stock turbo

but id say it would be a coin toss if both got stock trans

EasternAggie 01-24-2011 10:22 AM

I would say the Dmax with EFI live (with a good tune of course), especially if you had a Transgo Jr. on the Allison.

BriteWhiteRam 01-27-2011 09:56 PM

transgo jr. wont do much on a 5-speed, its more of a 6-speed thing, you need the whole transgo kit for the 5-speed, but it involves dropping the trans to install it

I agree with Cummin_un_glued, its a toss up if the transmissions can hold, because i know the 48re cant handle sw9, let alone the TNT tuning

The allison could handle the power, but not long.... limp mode would be imminent

Diesel Dawgs Performance 01-27-2011 10:17 PM

I say Smarty SSR :humm:

I'm with you on this one, it's supposed to essentially be EFI Live for the Cummins

x2, my dmax i had went into limp anytime i got on it, if the chevy goes into limp the dodge will take it

BriteWhiteRam 01-27-2011 11:44 PM

If the dodge doesn't have a built trans it will take a dump too:jump:

EFI live is shortly on the way for the 5.9 and 6.7 Cummins :c:

Id stick with Marcos Tunes

Im not saying anything against Marco or Bob Wagner or any of the guys at MADS, they're a good group of dudes, But EFI allows for at the track modifications to the tune that a Smarty cant give you right now, not that I know of anyways:pca1:

Ok dude thanks for the info :c:

hence why we're talking about smarty ssr the new pretty much fully adjustable "custom" tuning product for the dodge out there

BriteWhiteRam 01-28-2011 11:48 AM

i did some digging myself and a Direct quote from Marco says that the SSR is basically for trucks that are on the extreme limits of what these trucks can do, if the TNT revo tunes aren't quite getting you that little bit extra with your compound turbos, 200hp injectors, nitrous, then maybe the ssr will get it, but from what i kind of understand, its basically a tune with the ability to change several parameters, so its not worth it to buy the SSR unless you are looking for that 1/10th of a second when your dipping into the 10's at the track, or need a little more rpm to pull the sled another 5 feet

Re: Smarty or EFI Live?

U can't compare EFI to Smarty cause they are for 2 totally different trucks.

BriteWhiteRam 01-28-2011 12:13 PM

Cummins 5.9L
Cummins 6.7L

Are they really?:tttt:

Diesel Dawgs Performance 01-28-2011 12:19 PM

Don't know how long its going to be before its released. Just because they make wicked tunes for the Dmax doesn't mean the same for the Cummins. Just my $.02

BriteWhiteRam 01-28-2011 12:22 PM

Many guys who build tunes for the Duramax are beginning to focus on the Cummins, they are in Beta stage, so i suspect within the next 6 months they should be ready to release it

EFI live gives anyone the ability to tune every detail of fuel delivery, injection timing, torque reference, there should be no problem being able to tune the Cummins the way they tune the duramax

Smarty SSR

BriteWhiteRam 01-28-2011 04:46 PM

wow just wow:argh:

bobcat67 01-28-2011 08:21 PM

I think you can compare efi to smarty because they are the best tuners for each particular truck being questioned

Re: Smarty or EFI Live?

Marco is fixing to release some very nice features for the Smarty

bobcat67 01-28-2011 10:32 PM

I personally can't wait for it, i don't care if it is just for those hardcore guys, i'm sure there's things everyone can and will benefit from

features like being able to adjust every fueling table? the ability to change the number of injection events? or how those injection events fuel? or the ability to control turbo wastegates/VGT turbo vanes? all according to throttle position? man that could never happen with a tuner...oh wait.....i think that it will....

Hate it all you like, its going to be a force in Cummins tuning, a lot cheaper than buying a bosch standalone race ECM or any of other expensive units out there, the capabilities are un-paralleled :w2: Im done with the cheerleading:c:

I'm gonna try em both, but I hope there's some decent dudes out there making tunes for cummins like Idaho Rob or the like for the duramax cause I don't trust me making tunes

BriteWhiteRam 01-29-2011 12:49 PM

Like I said earlier, there are guys who tune Duramax's testing the beta software for the Cummins right now, i would suspect that they will be more than willing to take on new customers, I know if you buy EFI from most of them they throw in a tune or two for free...

tbreddiesel 04-14-2011 10:51 AM

Smarty SSR is now in stock at Thoroughbred Diesel :jump:

EasternAggie 04-14-2011 01:34 PM
