Dana front axle

Ok let me start off by telling y'all bout my front end set up on my 94 f250 4x4. The truck has a high pinion Dana 44 3/4 ton solid front axle and the rear is a sterling 10.25. The problem I'm having is that the gears in the front axle don't match the rear so with that in mind I can't lock her in 4x4. I'm debating on weather or not the Dana 44 solid is worth putting the right gears in it or if I should find a Dana 60 for the front. Keep in mind the truck has 39inch military tires. I need advice from y'all anything will help.

I would find a Dana 60 merely for the load rating alone, and definitely for axle strength with 39" rolling stock...seems like a Dana 44 wouldn't be worth the trouble in terms of durability. But that's just me...:w2:

yeah i would go with the Dana 60, it is more money up front but it will give you some peace of mind.

That's probably what I'll do. The Dana 44 I've got now is a a 3/4 ton that came out of a 70's f250. but the Dana 60 would b better for what I do.

You'll be miles ahead with a Dana 60 in terms of strength and parts availability. About the only thing that 44 has going for it is it's an 8-lug. Throw big tires and a decent amount of horsepower to it, and it won't take much to break it. I had one in my '69 Cheverolet and it didn't last long even behind a stock big block with 36" tires.

Yea that's my problem I run 39s n the engine is soon to get bumped up so Dana 60 is a must
