Hotshot hauling

I am looking into buying a trailer and hauling hotshot loads with my dodge cummins i was wondering if anyone does this or has done this. Ive been layed off for almost a years now and thought maybe i would spend the last of the saving account to get a trailer and give er a shot. Thanks

If I'm not mistaken, I believe you need a CDL, insurance that's somewhere in the million dollar range, and you also have to stop at weigh stations. There is quite a bit involved to it.

i wish i was old enough to get my cdl in put my truck to work makin some money! after insurance which is EXPENSIVE!:argh:

Million dollars of insurance is like $1200 every 3 months, have to post a DOT # on both sides of the truck, with a 3/4 ton your limited to what you can haul as far as weight. Most companies run duallys for bigger pay loads. If you can find the right people, and can stay busy, it's a money making ordeal.

yep i dont know what i should i do a trail is going to be like 7 grand so i dont know

at work we have 5 trucks that we run
2 Chevys- 08 2500, 02 2500
3 fords-01 f-350, 04f-450, 98 f-250 (back up truck)
the 450s the only dually n it pulls a 35' goose neck
the rest of the trucks have 20' bed overs...
the chevys are the WORST to pull with... both are gassers :argh: n the shift ALL over the place..
all hav DOT numbers n insurance sucks! but they are used all day 6 days a week... so theyre payed for and the insurance is not a problem... cause theyre kept busy.... so if your gonna do it... make sure you can get the work! which is gonna be kinda hard in this economy... but theres money to be made if you can find clients!

Ya i know about the economy im ready to get some work if i get hired on somewhere i guess i can try and start my own company. ive been looking at sites that offer loads but who knows how they really work out

If you can get a hold of oilfield type stuff, they'll keep you busy. Too bad you live out East cause there's a big lease opening up in Eastern ND. Supposedly 40+ rigs are up and drilling away. :U:

With 2 lil kids at home i need to try and find work around here. i went to a truck driving interview today, but they wanted me to be gone weeks at a time and they cant pay me that much money to be away from my family that long
