needing some small diesel info

I have a student design project here at school that is going to need a hybrid powerplant of an IC engine and electric motor. The rules state an upper size limit of 310cc for diesels. If we cant get the old gas v-twin to fire I would like to see about switching to a diesel. Does anyone know of a cheap, simple, reliable diesel that can turn out around 60-70 hp? Its a long shot I know but it would get some serious kudos from the judges if I can get one of these things in the project car:U:

Look at finding a little 4 cyl Kubota (used to run little gen sets). :U:

you are not going to find anything around 310cc and 60-70 hp.

here is a 26hp with 952cc's

Try to get a Smart CDi Diesel engine:intercooled, turbocharged, enough power
Downside: expensive!

the Smart would be good, but its nearly 800 cc. I think we can use one of the little ones they put in lawnmowers. They only turn out 12-13 hp in the strong ones but we can change the design to just charge the batteries instead of trying to move the car mechanically.
