all the big truck manufacturers made a v8 cat cummins detroit etc. like the majority of the people on here already said the fact is the inline 6. it cant be beat my buddy had a f-150 with a 300 straight 6 with 400,000 miles on it. the inline is just an indestructible motor thats why i cant understand why ford and chevy havent followed suit yet and made their engines inlines.

I just love the B series "super truckers" and their mighty mouse baby big rigs.

A B series Cummins is medium duty....as are all of the Navistar V configuration engines used in the Ford trucks, and since the 6.6 Duramax is used in the larger GM trucks I would assume it is medium duty rated as well.

The "light duty" urban legend about the Powerstroke emission sticker is complete bullshit. The sticker says "light heavy duty". The 7.3 and 6.0 Powerstrokes are AKA the T444E and VT365 and are used in the International 4000 series trucks all over North America.

And seriously, if you've ever been around stationary power gen equipment, the marine industry, or very large earth moving equipment...well, the amount of V configuration engines you see would make you **** yourselves, and possibly learn a little bit about engine technology at the same time.

K, I'm done and ready for the sanctioning......

V engines in equipment? Naw.......all lies. The 657's, 637e's, D10's and 777's never used 3408's or 3412's. Never......NEVER!!!! I won't believe it.

The Cummins KTA series was a myth made up on the internet, and Al Gore never did invent the Caterpillar D399.

Also, the Caterpillar 3516 is only an internet phenomenon as well....it was never built, because Caterpillar knew it would never work cuz their engineers read all the diesel sites to learn what is really going on.

Nice post.
the Cummins is alot smaller then the 7.3. 5.9= 360CI 7.3=444CI so thats alot in my book. the dodge has about 60CI Vs 55CI in a 7.3. and the dodge can deliver more fuel do to fords injection system witch sucks. good idea but you can only push so much threw a HPOP. im a ford guy all the way but that 5.9 is a darn good motor.

It should also be known that the HEUI system is not a Ford system but a Navistar system; a system that was a joint development venture between Navistar and Caterpillar.

Now how does that work? The guy I work with bleeds yellow and HE swears up and down the the HEUI was developed entirely by Caterpillar(along with every achievement of the modern world) Just curious if you know more of the story than I do.
