New York exhuast laws?
Does anybody know the laws for an exhaust system in new york? I see people with straight piped stacks and stuff but isnt that illegal?
thanks |
there is no emissions laws in NY for diesels unless you have a truck manufactured in 08. then I think there is some sort of emissions. But there is federal law
same thing here in idaho
That seems very not new york ish, I do get emissions tested every year so idk what i can do to my exhaust.
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- And does anyone know the emissions standard too? |
they dont hook my trucks exhaust to anything. But federal law states that you cant remove any emission equipment on vehicles or something basically the simular
As all other vehicles, removal of factory emissions componants is illegal. But there are no emmisions on diesel vehicles in NY, the exhaust must exit behind the passenger compartment of the vehicle, and a turbo is considered a muffling device. Just dont be trying to be the loudest vehicle on the block, or your going to get a big fat ol ticket for too loud.
thanks guys that's truly is odd being that new york has many dumb laws.
here in Delaware we're supposed to have mufflers but most of the time they dont check
Under the table inspection and a dealer who doesnt give a damn... Works over here. :yeah:
well, for diesels, or any turbo'd vehicle, the trbo acts as the muffler, so technically you have the muffler on their...
we have to go to t he DMV to get our inspections done, it sucks they do the decible test in a building:argh: dont make any sense

Yeah, here in ohio they just do a "clarity test" you can have up to a certain percentage of particulate matter in the exhaust... like 5% *shrug* on that same note I was just at the EPA today to get my lifetime exemption from the checks since my door tag says 10,100lbs :U: all he did was check to make sure the exhaust was all there (straight pipe into a 7" stack) and that no tampering to emissions was done. Apparently the non-stock air filter is *technically* a no-no but he said noone really cares. |
NYC has totally different laws than the test of the state!!!!
