Lets Start an Engine Diagnosis Forum

I bought the SCT SF3 Flash programmer and really like the ability it provides with Livelink to access many engine and transmission signals. This has to be a powerful tool for anyone who wants to diagnose their truck powertrain problems. The main problem I see in using this tool is that SCT has stopped their forum on use of the Livelink software and there has been no one area where you can share logged data and how to identify and interpret bad readings.
Maybe we can get FORD technicians to chime in here and add to this idea and whether there is enough good information coming through these readings to use as a troubleshooting tool.
There is supposed to be information from both Ford ECU's. It would take me several hours to list them here. Basicly it appears that you can monitor all command signals going to ouput devices and monitor all input devices to the ECU's. There is no ability within the Livelink software to change ouputs or modify input readings.

Maybe there can be catagories set up where we can:
1. Share chart reading images of individual sensors on a known good vehicle
2. Share sensor signatures that indicate a particular problem that was proven bad and then maybe the repeated charted reading showing the correct reading after the problem diagnosed
3. Setup of Livelink.
4. Sticky of all log parameters available and how they are utilized by the engine or transmission control systems.

It would be nice if SCT, Innovative and other SCT products sales companies got involved in sharing information from their Livelink database. I would think this would increase their sales also.

you can look up all yer codes right here

That's helpfull when you get a code.
I'm talking about all the sensors and control signals that are out there that can give clues if read properly to a bad sensors or condition on the engine and yet not trigger an OBD-II code. There are many postings here and at other sites on just this issue, They are having engine problems but not getting a engine check light on the instrument cluster or an OBD code.

Here's some examples.
1 .An EGR voltage reading that is slightly off maybe indicating a stuck EGR valve
2. Intake air temperature signal is unreasonably high or low and can influence truck performance.
3. Command pressures or current readings from any of the 6 transmission solenoids indicating a bad solenoid. Wouldn't it be nice to find a bad solenoid yourself and just drop the pan and change it yourself, saving what, maybe over a $1,000 by doing it yourself?
4. Monitor your injection control pressure or fuel pump rail pressure to find that you have a problem at your pump and not an injector.
5. Glowplug duty cycle monitoring. You can maybe use this to tell if you have a bad glowplug control module or bad glowplugs.

There's what, maybe over 100 input and output signals you can monitor. Anybody who's seen the available signals you can view through this software interface know what I'm talking about.

Do up a good thread with all this info in it and we can make it a sticky in the Diesels in Distress Forum

I can post the signals that can be monitored. It will be up to all the people using the SCT Livelink software to contribute the graphed readings of these signals. They can then be catagorized later into good signal readings and bad signal readings I guess.

I dont understand what your saying but if its going to help someone go for it :U:
