Help with gauge install
 

Hey guys, I am looking for some help on how to install my gauges. I have the AutoMeter Pro Comp Ultra Lite gauges: Pyrometer (with thermocouple and wiring), Boost, Fuel Pressure (electric).

The boost gauge is the simplest, however, where do i go on the engine (preferably not requiring drill/tap) to put the boost bolt in and have it function properly.

With the Pyro., i obviously have to drill/tap the ex. manifold to install the thermocouple and the wiring from that goes to where.

Finally, with the Fuel pressure gauge, all i get was an 1/8" fitting, a wire harness that goes from the fitting to the gauge and the light. Where can i go on the fuel system again preferably without having to drill and tap to put that pressure sending unit in to read the fuel pressure.



Lastly, where do i wire the light source in the fuse box so itll dim with the dash lights if i need/want it to.

you can hook the power to your light switch.

i didn't bother, just grounded one end to a bolt that hold the ebrake cable in place and the other to the fuese box. when the truck is on so is the light.

you shouldn't have to drill and tap for the boost gauge.
look at yer intake right under the injector lines. there should be a bolt in there.
just take the bolt out and put yer line there. mine had the same size. no need for taping or drilling.

If you did a search in the second gen stuff youd find some info that I posted about installing fuel pressure guages.

Did you get a tapped banjo bolt with the guages? You will need to either install a tapped banjo bolt under the fuel filter or install at the test port on your VP-44...

Dont forget, its probably a good idea to dampen the pulses from the VP-44.

i am not sure if the 24v has the plug like the 12v does

Correct, the boost bolt goes in the same general area but its not the same as a 12V. Or, you can drill & tap the intake manifold.

cool, thanks dr evil. I know my fuel pressure gauge kit came with some kind of a bolt thing that the wire harness plugs in to.
