most effective bolt on power adders?
 

As mentioned before, I'm painfully new to the diesel community. I can honestly say that, unlike a lot of others, I really don't care about rolling coal. It strikes me as a waste of fuel, to start with, and as a current non diesel driver, it seems kind of juvenile. I am, however, interested in knowing where is a good place to start, when it comes time to begin the modding process. I'm fairly comfortable with general mechanic work, and can you-tube my way through some of the more involved stuff. My question is this. Aside from the obvious stuff, where is the easiest place to start with bolt on power adders? I'm not looking to do anything internal at the moment, and am not too keen on cutting sheet-metal yet. This is all hypothetical of course. I don't have the truck yet. Soon, just not now. Thanks in advance!

Greetings from Deepnaharta, Texas! Well first off, as I did with mine, is a free flowing exhaust system, muffler optional. Then free-flowing air filter or CAI kit. Gauges such as EGT, Trans temp gauge, boost, and fuel pressure, are mandatory if youre planning go-fast goodies in the future. You can do these mods in any order, BUT the above mods are a good idea before you install bigger injectors, power programmers and internal mods, turbo(s) etc.

So it appears that the exhaust has been done already. The muffler has been deleted, and from at least the cat back looks to be a 4 inch minimum pipe. Any recommendations for tuners or programmers? I’ve been doing some reading and the thought of being able to store multiple tunes is intriguing. Being from Oregon where emissions testing doesn’t happen, would ridding myself of the cat improve flow enough to be noticeable?
