Cummins or Duramax
 

Trying to decide if I want a Cummings a or Duramax, trying to learn the pros and cons of each. I just want a nice dependable motor. Truck will be used as a daily driver, and for light towing. I work at a Chevrolet dealership so I can get a Duramax easy and for a good price. But I would like a Cummins

They are both great engines.
The duramax is smooth and powerful.
And the other, well the design of the Cummins is proven to be a great platform for every aspect of the diesel world.
It currently holds the dpc title for last years event with Lavon millers truck. And many unnamed pullers use the "king" 12v engine as a base for the engine they use to make much more horsepower than people know about.
The duramax holds the "record" for horsepower on a chassis dyno. But there is some large speculations there.
The cummins has made much greater numbers on engine dynos (more accurate on hp applications) but numbers are not usually broadcasted to the public.

Do your own looking, and determine what you would like best.

16 hrs book time on injectors vs 4 on the Cummins and it does happen. Water pump 5.5 hrs minimum Duramax,2.0 max on the Cummins.
That being said the Duramax is a sweet engine when everything's Kosher.And then there's the DEF tank behind the passenger tire. How low could they go with it?
