Diesel right for me?

First post, I apologize if it's in the wrong spot.

I have a friend who is getting rid of his 6.4L 2008 f350 and is offering it to me. Can't decide if its too much truck/whether diesel is right for me, or if a gas would do it.

I am moving to an area where -40C or lower for 6+ months is the norm. so theres lot of idle/warm up time either before work or just in general. I do personal/self employed long drives, at least once a week, so thats good for any engine, but theres also the drive from home to the shop.

Wondering what engine will give me the best longevity for these conditions.

Thanks.

6.4's are good motor's.
Here are some questions for you for your choice
Do you haul anything or tow heavy stuff?
Diesels do cost more for the maintnance and parts than gas motors.
Fuel might cost more than gas, not sure for your area?
Is there a repair history with this truck?
Is the truck still stock?
Hope this helps:humm:
