Stretching torque-to-yield factory head bolts, lack of head fasteners (just four per cylinder, vs. six for Cummins and Duramax mills), and small head bolt diameter are to blame for the 365ci V-8’s biggest failure point. In order to get around this lack of clamping force, ’03 to ’07 Ford Super Duty enthusiasts ditch the factory head bolts for head studs, which we’ll be showcasing this month.
