2014 Ram 1500 Crowned as Motor Trend’s 2014 Truck of the Year

EcoDiesel Ram Wows Motor Trend JudgesFittingly announced at the Chrysler Group LLC Warren Truck Assembly Plant in Michigan, the 2014 Ram 1500 has been named the prestigious Motor Trend 2014 Truck of the Year. It seems that innovation has paid off for this pioneer of the diesel half ton truck segment. Making the victory even sweeter is the interesting statistic that since Motor Trend introduced its Truck of the Year testing in 1979, this is the very first time a truck – in this case the Ram 1500 - has won two years in a row. Prior to 2013, the Ram Heavy Duty took top honors in 2010. Eight other all-new or significantly updated contenders battled the Ram 1500 for this year’s title: the Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra, Ram Heavy Duty, Toyota Tundra, Ford Transit Connect, Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, Nissan NV200, and Ram ProMaster. This was the largest group of contenders ever, marking the revival of new and significantly updated trucks and vans.
