Another Debate Thread

New to this forum, but not new to forums in general. I drive a 2000 Mustang GT so I spend a LOT of time over on sn95forums.com... My old man drives the 2000 F350 in my sig, but I drive it whenever I need it for work and he takes my GT

I'm sure you guys get this question a lot, and I swear I've done some searching haha.. But I'm in the process of saving up a down payment for a new truck. I'm currently an apprentice in the HVAC test and balance field and will be in need of a truck not too long from now to haul my equipment and also do the occasional tow of the 40' flatbed trailer. That being said I'm looking for a Cummins or Powerstroke. I don't know which to get tho!

Looking for a Cummins 03-08 (I know the engines changed in 06.5 to the 6.7, 08 is my cap for mainly pricing)
Powerstroke is gonna have to be 03-07... I can't afford the 6.7's and I've heard the 6.4's are no good.

Mileage is a big concern here as I spend a lot of time traveling to and from the job site and driving my 5.2 Jeep Grand Cherokee is KILLING me on mileage (it's lifted on 33's and getting about 10mpg haha). So what are so pro's and cons to both brands? I know Cummins is WAY better than the 6.0 but I'm a die hard Ford guy and know the potential of the 6.0 if you bullet proof it. I've been doing some reading on the 6.7 Cummins and from what I've read the 6.7 is a good motor all around but the emissions garbage holds it back.. Then obviously the 5.9 is an excellent motor, but it's getting to be a little aged.. Any pointers on what direction to go would be greatly appreciated!

Interesting vid... Never would have thought the Cummins would come in dead last of the big 3. It's hard to make a decision based off those kind of vids tho because they all seem to be rather opinionated if you ask me. Fun to watch tho nonetheless thanks for the post

Make your decision based on which one you prefer to work on.

That would be a Cummins by far man. I love Ford but their trucks are a total PITA to work on

Lol I see your point. My old man has been there 38yrs now. In your opinion what makes it so much better than the Ford? I know the obvious answer I just want some personal opinions

Two less cylinders,no glow plug systems on a dodge. Cheaper to maintain in my book. Ford takes 16 QTS. Dodge take 11 QTS. No high pressure oil system running the injectors etc.

exactly, i wouldn't use this info for deciding on what one to get but more for some of the pros and cons of each to help you make a decision
