Newbie Needs Some Help Deciding
I am currently looking for a diesel truck that would be my daily driver. I would not be doing much towing, but more of just driving around and some occasional mudding (Which means that 4x4 would be preferable). My price range is around $25k, which sort of limits what I can get. I am not limiting myself on which of the top three brands either because I really don't have more loyalty to one more than the other. From the big three, I've been looking at:
Ford: -'08-'10 F250/F350 6.4L Powerstroke 4x4 I like them mainly because they look good on the exterior, especially when lifter 4" or 6". The problem is that the maintenance would be higher because whenever there is a need for work on the engine, the cab would need to be lifted off. Chevy/GMC: -'06-'07 LBZ Duramax 4x4 I've heard that the LBZ is a sound engine and doesn't need work for it to be reliable, compared to the slightly troubled LLY and LB7. I like the interior and exterior. Dodge: -'03-'07 5.9L Cummins 4x4 I have also heard that this is one of the most reliable diesel engines ever. Problem with it is that they are put in a truck that has a subpar interior compared to the Chevy and Ford trucks that I am comparing them to. I am also wondering what y'all's experience with the 6.7L Cummins when it first started to be produced and used in the Dodges ('07.5+) I am wondering what y'all's experience with these trucks are, and which one y'all suggest. Also, what would be an acceptable mileage on the truck and engine to consider buying. I would like to note that I am going to be deleting whatever emissions equipment so that the truck would run better, and wouldn't grenade on me as quickly. Thanks! |
