Is low sulfur diesel still legal for sale in the US?
I live in North Carolina, but usually go down to South Carolina to fill up as it's around 20-30 cents cheaper than the NC prices. One station I went to had a low sulfur diesel sticker on the pump. The station attendant (and happened to be owner) did not know anything but said the state had been out to inspect the pumps less than a month ago (new state inspection stickers).
I filled up with it but have no idea if it was LSD or ULSD with the wrong tag. If the deadline was in 2010, how could the state inspector have left the incorrect sticker all this time? EPA mandates that the pump must accurately display the type of diesel fuel... ---AutoMerged DoublePost--- bump...nobody? |
I wouldn't put LSD in a truck with a DPF, If the gas station doesn't have a ULSD sticker on the pump. I go to another gas station:humm:

Was it off road red fuel ? That might be why its cheaper , very illegal to drive on the road with red , if you get dipped you could be fined thousands.

And my truck is a 2002 24v, but I have read horror stories on this board about people with new DEF trucks not getting very far on non-ulsd fuel. |
