*Painting Rusty Surfaces

I saw on a hotrod show about this POR stuff..............I have never used it however it looks like to be some really good stuff for like truck frames and running gear....look under yer truck and see all that surface rust this may want you to try the POR stuff

A lot of guy swear by it just don't get it on anything you don't want it on.

that stuff works pretty good. eastwood company also sells its own brand that is a little cheaper and works good too.

the best way to use this stuff is to paint it after it's on. it doesn't hold up to uv or road salt very good on its own.

Pretty cool looking stuff I will have to give it a try.

the stuff works great, but like said before dont get it on anything that you dont want it on, it wont come off, including your skin. also dont put it on something that will be in direct sunlight, its sensative to UV rays and will fade very quickly

Rustbullet is supposed to be even better:

Stop Rust with Rust Inhibitor Products, Rust Paint & Coating

I agree.....have used the POR-15--very important to do the entire process as not doing so will yield crappy results--the Rust Bullet, and Eastwood's Rust Encapsulator.

Rust Bullet was the best. Not cheap, but worked the best. FWIW....

I luv the rust bullet. I've used it on several trailers. It was kinda iffy in the beginning cause paint just didn't want to stick to it for the long term. But now they have their own paint to go with it and the results are great. No more havin to fight with all the surface prep for that little bit a rust before you can paint. Price on it, well that's a nother matter. In my case I figured my time had a price on it in those days and the prep work it saved me cut several hours off my time, now days I'd have to think about it a little harder.
