4 X 4 Questions

These may be a dumb questions but I'd appreciate any answers.

I have a 2005 F 250 with manual locking hubs and of course manual TC. Also manual tranny

Here's what I know and questions as well.

1. Disengage the hubs when not in use.
2. Use 4 X 4 (H or Low ) only off road. What if there is considerable snow on the tarmac
3. No Low range in snow or ice??? or no 4 X 4 at all
4. What kind of RPM limit when you have to use low range.
5. Can you speed shift (clutch less) when on 4 X 4?
6. Will prolonged 4 X 4 H use destroy anything, say 125 in Colorado is snow bound and you have to drive 100 miles. I usually go okay with my 2WD 1977 on interstate as long as I have weight in the back, except when going down Raton pass

Anything I have to watch for with these TC and tranny?

Thanks

1. yes, disengage the hubs.......it's sucks to get out of the truck but it will save the u-joints.

2.4x4 is ok in snow.....as long as you don't turn on dry pavement....the front wheels need to slip when turning.

3.lo range unnecessary in snow

4. Same RPM limit as normal

5. Don't no....never tried but should be o.k.

6. as long as the transfer case fluid is full and you don't drive excessively fast you should be o.k.....( keep it under or around 50-55 mph )

Hope this is helpful noobie :hellox:
