Help/Advice needed on purchasing a powerstroke

Hello-

I'm new to this forum, but came to get advice and learn from current Ford owners on my quest to purchasing a F250 powerstroke. I currently own a SUV, but I've always wanted a truck and after driving a 2006 F250 King Ranch over the weekend, I was amazed by the power and comfort of this truck.

My truck will be used as a daily driver and little towing, if ever any honestly. I know, you say just get a F150, well the truck is too small for me and I like the F250 size plus diesel. My truck needs to be a crew cab also with a short bed. Basically, this truck will be used to haul stuff from time to time, but mainly as a daily driver and I'm looking for suggestion's on what year to buy.

I'm getting a little nervous about purchasing one used/new now after reading all the bad reviews on the 6.0/6.4 models! Are there really that many problems with this truck?? I just want a reliable truck that is not dated. Please help me with any advice and recommendations! Thanks again.

David

my old man has a 6.0 it does what he needs it to do, goes from here to there and tow the boat and camper trailer. He just bought it for towing since the suburban was out of date and having trouble towing cause he kept on getting bigger campers.

He keeps it 100% stock except for the exception of a lift and bigger wheels and tires. no problems with it at all with it.

i suggest getting a history report of the truck ur looking into buying and seeing if they have a history of problems and if they did have alot of problems odd are it probably keep on having them if you plan on making more power

I think its all about budget. If I could afford it (well wanted to afford it), then I would buy the 6.4 or wait for the new 6.7 thats coming out in a nice King Ranch. But this is a $50K truck plus. The older 7.3 is the work horse, but you dont seem to need that much truck. The later 6.0 and 6.4 are not as bad as some say. The 6.0s are prone to issues, and it is somewhat potluck on what you will get, but I would be okay with the newer 6.4 for sure.

Good luck.

I know alot of ppl and I am one of them that have had virtually no problems with there 6.0's. I love my truck to death and haven't treated too nicely from time to time. I have over 130k miles on it. I've done an egr delete as that was my only reoccuring annoyance. Besides that the truck has been a dream to me.

Consider trade in

I own an F250 6.0L with 90k miles. I need a newer bigger truck for work. I can hardly give away the 6.0. I actually had a dealer refuse to trade because of that motor. My trade in allowances are all well below NADA and KBB, The truck is in great shape but nobody wants to buy this motor.
