08 Harley, Loaded Lariat, or King Ranch F-450.

The thread can be locked now, since this is the ONLY truck that matters.

toy4xchris 09-11-2009 09:41 PM

x2 the 450's and the HD trucks are freakin awesome.

stkdram55 09-11-2009 11:00 PM

the early 03 7.3's seem to be decent to average :D....but yeah the new trucks with 6.4 are finally starting to get figured out aint doing to bad...

some random guy 04-24-2011 06:25 PM

Everybody that sees mine says, "Last of the good one's" ? 2002 f250 superduty 7.3 4x4

Matt5005 04-24-2011 07:17 PM

I still say the 7.3 were by far the best for longevity. May not be powerhouses but dependable.

This is the truth.

6.0 just has too many issues to take care of to make them last.

EasternAggie 04-25-2011 11:44 PM

7.3's were the best engines. for best overall I would say the 08-10 6.4's. they had a few problems, but were nice trucks that could make huge power and had a solid tranny behind them.

Mdub707 04-26-2011 08:56 AM

6.4, but repair costs are insane.

Other than that I'd say a 2003 7.3 with a manual trans. Too bad they didn't offer the 5R110 with the 7.3...

Not quite, 2003 would be the last of them.

Thats just like saying they didnt offer a 5.9 Cummins in a 94 F150 :w2:

95powersmoker 04-26-2011 07:40 PM

I'd say 2000 or a Forged rod motor 2001 would be the last of the best... Not too much fun modding a truck with PMR's....

Seventhree 05-04-2011 11:57 PM

may not be the best, but i sure do love my 95 powerstroke! id marry her if i could!

I believe I Have the forged rod in 2000, so I'd say I made a good choice over the '03 duramax I almost bough :choochoo::choochoo:

89silverbullet 06-14-2011 08:23 PM

the last of the good ones was the last forged rod 7.3 off the line.

Mdub707 06-16-2011 08:11 AM

Not sure why everyone thinks the Forged motors are so great, they still don't hold anywhere near the power a stock bottom end 6.0 or 6.4 will. What's a forged rod motor bottom end good for? 450hp?

gunman41mag 06-16-2011 10:15 AM

i think the 6.4 is the best for HP & TQ, but the 7.3 are known to last:humm:

Re: What's the Best Year???

A good running 6.0 is a strong motor bolted to a torqshift trans.

Correct.

I wonder how long a 6.4 would last though if it only had to put under 200 horses down to the wheels. :w2:

On a 7.3? Oil pan would be the first thing I look for. They rot out, and the motor must be pulled to replace it. I've seen some cut crossmembers out of the frame to do it, but that's seems dangerous to me.

Look for a forged rod motor. Do some searching around and you can find out which motors had these and which had the PMR's.

jcfuzzdog29 06-17-2011 12:04 PM

ok thanks

2000 was the last year of the forged rods:humm:
