shutter while accelerating
new trans a few months ago, new ring and pinion, u joints and carrier bearing 2 wks ago. the shutter is felt mostly when accerating hard in 1st gear while towing (which i do 99 percent of the time) and a slight shaking/vibrating/shutter when cruising at 65mph which i always before blamed on the trailer. i don't think its the trailer now, as i had to drop into low 1 to pull a really steep hill the other day and the thing was jumping around like awful. any ideas??? i most certain it did this with the old trans and before all the rear end work was done to so that kinda narrows it down. i was thinking engine mounts?? tried to look under there last night when i got home but its very hard to see how they are with the plate there.

Maybe the tranny shop put a clutch pack on backwards or two steels together?
And I am guessing this is a 5 speed manual tranny, possible clutch? Also did you check tranny mounts? |
automatic, brand new from ford. the truck always has done it since 61k on it when i bought it and now seems worse with 161k on. trans mount appears fine, checked that. thinking i might be missing something simple! exhaust isnt hitting anywhere, u joints are new, hmmm

is the drive line bolted on tight? i've had thos bolts come loose and it caused a hellacious vibration.

just checking. i understand your thinking on blaming it on the trailer. pulling my buddies 25' goose it's a shaking sob after 70. possible u joint? maybe a bearing in the rear end?
