weak points on a 2000 F550

hi everyone, im usually on the 6.5 page but im most likely buying a truck on an offer i couldnt refuse.

any help would be thanked in advance!

Could be high, all depends on how it was treated. If it was a fleet truck that idled alot it could be toast but yet if it was highway with routine maintainence it could be brand new. All three of my strokers have 230K+ miles on them and are runnin like champs. Had one come thru the shop with 520K on it on the original engine. Check blow by, clutch, type of oil, balljoints, ect.... basically all the usuals.

I have narrowed the 2000 to be the best year for 7.3L superduties for many reasons. Expect wear items like ball joints. Transmissions on these trucks generally need some care/attention.

Check for leaks. :tu:

The late 99 and 2000 are the best years for the international cotton picker diesel. The transmission is the weakest link on these trucks, but thats an automatic. I looked at an 05 F-350 with 987,000 miles, it was like new, original motor, 4th transmission, very little blowby, ran smooth, didnt smoke, IMMACULATE. He had all the service records from new. All Highway miles.
