transmission temperature

i was wondering what everyones tranny temp is running at? or if anyone has any idea what the operating temp should be?

depends on outside temp and how heavy you are. i put a big cooler on mine b/c i tow 100k a year. towing as much as 18k, i've seen 180 degrees only one time pulling a big hill. 160 is about normal. empty (with trailer, i'm around 130 when its cold out like now. just the truck, i don't see much temp at all. hope this helps.

I've never seen above 180* 135-160 is pretty typical for me.

IMHO anything under 220* is nothing to get excited about.

cruising on a normal day, around from 30- 60* out, i'll hit 190- 200* but that's a munaual too.

well correct me if i'm wrong, but with a manual you really don't have to worry. unless you're over 300*

yeah, i'd say when you see those temps, its to late anyway! i've never monitored rear end or manual trans temps.

i guess the only thing you have to worry about on a manual with high temps is, burning the seals out lol
