Loss of power with straightpipe.

Working on a buddies truck, we decided to remove the muffler, we figured it was clogged because my dads 5.4 was louder and he could only hit 4lbs of boost. Any way long story short it sounded like crap, couldn't get out of it's own way (we got passed by a damn amish buggy) and couldn't pull a sick whore off a piss pot... Can some one explain why the powerstroke responds so poorly to a straight pipe when every other turbo diesel I can think of responds well to a straight pipe?

Your an idiot.

To the OP sounds like you have a boost leak to me.

Its not the straight pipe that caused your lack of power... If your only hitting 4psi, you have a boost leak, or leaking up pipes, or a bad fuel supply issue.

What they said, you have other problems... The straightpipe isnt your issue...

4lbs with full exhaust, the straight pipe would hit 16-17, but had no balls.

check the up pipes, Y pipe collector, intercooler boots, anything that could cause a boost leak.

Check the up pipes, check the fuel pressure, check the oil level...

Having a straight pipe has nothing to do with your issue.
