Edge Products???

I've heard that the Edge products have problems with knocking out the 4r100 and 5r100's. If so why is that, and what makes the TS and SCT not kill them? I know this sounds like a caveman wrote this... sorry LOL

Re: Edge Products???

The edge does nothing for shift strategies the TS does. So with the edge the trans still thinks you have stock power.

That is absolutely 100% misleading. The internet "forum facts" live on through another generation of people. :argh:

The Evolution programmers change the exact same shift functions and pressure maps/parameters that "custom tuners" do. They always have.

There is ZERO truth to saying that all "Edge products have problems with knocking out the 4r100 and 5r100's" because there are countless numbers of people who have had transmission failures due to "custom tunes" as well. Heck, even stock-power trucks destroy these transmissions if you beat on them enough.

Even the new Juice modules perform transmission programming modifications while the old ones did not. So there is your argument for "edge does nothing for shift strategies". But to lump ALL Edge products into the "destroy transmissions" category is unfair and untrue.

Have a nice day.

thank you for clearing that up, i guess i was giving false info. i have a 5sp so i never noticed any shifting diffrence from when i was running an edge to the TS.

Thank you for the info. I have an Edge Evo. and was thinking about getting a TS, so I can change on the fly. But I'm having a hard time coughing up the cash for it. Becuase I had already bought the Edge, it's like buying a tuner twice or paying twice the amount for one if you know what I mean. So I guess I'll have to sell it to try and recover some $$. What do you guys think a fair price for it would be too? Again thank you, Brent

Is it an Evo2 with the display or just the old "Game Boy" style Evolution?

Outlaw7.3 09-15-2011 12:32 PM

New to the forum, and I am looking into buying an Edge Juice with Attitude CS, anyone running one on there 99-03 7.3? I am also curious on the pros and cons of programmers. Any feedback would be great!

That doesn't really apply to 5R110's though. To my knowledge the Edge can NOT access the TCM like a custom tuned SCT can.

Old info, so not sure how much it has changed since this was posted but:

Edge evolution was superchips based and had no trans control. Because neither did the superchips. And they even made the same tones as an Xcal2. However since superchips only had and old version of the SCT database, they never really got everything.

Edge has notoriously always been a trans killer for the 5R, back in the day they made great power, but ate transmissions, then they just backed the power off of them to lessen the death grip on the trans. Or so I've been told... maybe Bill can enlighten us more.

Re: Edge Products???

I know the Edge Juice shifted like crap on my 04 6.0. It would flare shirt and sometime hang in gear.

Classic generic tuner in a 6.0. My buddy had the same issues with his bullydog, all was cured with some custom tunes and an X-cal 2.
