new CPS and installed chip and now stalls

ok we installed the new cps and the truck ran great. installed TW TS chip and now she likes to stall. plenty of power now she just likes to stall. some of the times the way it shuts off is "gently". someone suggested its the black cage around the computer putting too much pressure on it, and that removing it would cure it, as that fixed theirs.... someone help me out.

when you installed the chip did you clean the silicone off well?

ZombieSoldier 09-04-2011 04:58 PM

yepp cleaned it very well

Check your oil.

Nothing around the PCM will cause the truck to stall. There is no way to put pressure on the PCM and cause it to stall.

Make sure the PCM is clean, the chip is fully seated and not moving.

ZombieSoldier 09-05-2011 02:58 AM

ok i will get it checked out asap. i gotta get oil changed anyways, so i will fill her up with rotella, take the chip off, clean it extra good, make sure it is fully seated, also thinking of replacing the ICP as well

think it could be because of the 15* pump on there now? i have a 17* ready to go on it...

CSIPSD 09-05-2011 10:16 AM

No, the 15* pump would not cause any issues at Low ICP usage. You might see some power loss at high RPM/usage but not down low.

When you remove the chip insure you have the keys in your pocket, not anywhere near the ignition.

Not quite.....

Go ahead and ask me how many tech calls I've had because people have put an unmodified PCM holder box back on and somehow managed to bolt it back in.....

If a person decides to keep the black box and bolt it back down, it is a MUST to modify the box so it doesn't touch the chip.

Well... I guess I just assumed everyone cut the back of the box out...LOL

You are correct.

so to narrow it down, I had the chip removed and my truck no longer stalls... gotta be the connection or chip or the burns themselves. I sent a message to tony hopefully he can give me some insight. if it requires me to send in the chip to reburn it then so be it.

Most of the bad connections I've seen the truck will not even start. Not saying this is what always happens but just what I've seen.
