ok my turbo is blowin smoke ive almost got enuff money saved up for a new one so what turbo and why would you relace it with? my ruck is a 2000 7.3 its got a garret on it now it has mods its got a dp tuner 6 program tune and the laminated sticker next to the pod says 6 will give 160 hp.its got a banks ehaust,bigger injectors,pump,headbolts,intake,water alchol injection on the aftermarket intercooler,ect... i just bought this truck about 5 months ago im planning on the garrett ballbearing gt38 but im not upto date on all the turbos out ther. i want all the power i can get and i love the whistle mine makes(thats one of the things that got my attention in the first place) im just currious whats out ther before i spend my money

Aurora 3000... had it on my 2000 f350 and loved it. put a hard 250k miles on the turbo and never had a problem with it. i would have one on my excursion if it would fit

Everybody that has already posted a turbo type should have asked what injectors the truck has in it... That is the only way to help give suggestion for a turbo...

So what injectors are we dealing with?

So you had an ATS A3000 on your F-350, and you think it will not fit on your Excursion? Can I ask why? Same motor, Same Fire wall...



To the OP, Your truck has a GTP-38R on it now IIRC, how do you know its blown? There a pretty tough turbo, but if you have a restricted CCV mod they will push oil out the seals.

As far as a new turbo goes, I would go with a mid frame, T4 or T4i mount.

I thought the same thing so i ignored ats when they said it would not fit :argh: and spent a saterday afternoon doing the swap.. it does not fit

You will have to explain to me why it did not fit.

The F-350 and the Excursion have the same motor, same tranny, same fire wall.

What was causing the fitment issue?

I don't know what injectors are in it the guy I bought the truck from told me (no reason not to belive him)that the truck puts out a little over 500 hp when it was dyno,d so I realu don't know what injectors. What injectors should it have to make 500 ponies? Should I just buy new injectors with the turbo? If so which ones and which size? I want to tow a toyhauler eventually and I want reieabilaty and as much power as possible but don't want to break things. This truck was built right and has the best parts in it so id like to keep it that way
