Lets Talk About Aftermarket Gauges

So I know most Diesel owners that have turned up the wick a little on performance has added gauges. Myself I am in the market for some as we speak. So I am turning to you, my fellow board members to do something for me.

- Post a pic of your setup
- Tell us what the setup consists of (brand, series, and what gauges they are)
- Your impression of your gauges you got. do you like them or not and why.

I am thinking of getting GlowShift EGT, Boost and Trans Temp in a pillar pod, due to a budget that my wife gave me ($225.00)... since the last set i bought never showed up and the seller disappeared without a trace.. Thanks ahead of time.

ive heard nothing but bad about glow shifts. ill try and get a decent pic of my set up later today but i run an edge insight CTS (watching trans temp pyro engine oil temp gear and battery voltage) plus isspro EV2 boost and fuel pressure on a pillar pod.

Honestly if that is your budget, Get some Autometers... Good quality and inexpensive. I paid 227 for my three gauges plus 40 bucks for the pod...

Here is a pic of mine... Keep in mind, that is my 95. Just FYI. These are Autometer Ultralites. I like the simple clean look. Only thing I would fix is the fluttering boost gauge... I live with it but I know there is some sort of snubber out there which is supposed to get rid of the flutter... Other than that I have no complaints..

If you want some super nice gauges Isspro is the only way to go... I'd stay away from GS though. Gauges are not exactly a place you want to cheap out on when it's giving you a number you need to trust.

for the boost gauge do i need to monitor vaccuum as well or no?

how many PSI should i get? 30? 35? 45? 60? i know a stock 7.3 powerstroke makes boost in the teens if I am not mistaken and possibly up to 23 or 24 with the correct tunes right? so a 30 or 35 is more then adequate right?

the boost gauge depends on what your going to do with the truck. i went with a 0-50psi because eventually i plan on modding the truck and making more boost with a bigger turbo so i decided i didnt want to have to buy another gauge later on down the road.

I'm running a 3-1 Glowshift gauge mounted on my steering column for the minimalist look. I've had plenty of pillars covered in gauges and just don't want that in this truck. All the gauges are electronic (boost, temp used for oil, and EGT) and were easy to install. I've had zero issues with it since installing it 4 months ago and I figured I would try them out after two of my friends have ran their gauges for over two years without issues.

I checked the boost gauge against a manual autometer while troubleshooting a boost leak and both gauges read the same from the same location on the spider.

Cost was $110 for a blemish model (small hardly noticeable dots on the lens).

They don't, They both plug into the same spot so it would be tough to run them both... Joe had a DP tuner when that pic was taken but not anymore... Now he runs Swamps tunes...
