stalled out a few times while pushing in clutch

i have a late 99 it has a light surge while idleing sometimes and has stalled out on me a few times while pushing in the clutch and coming to a stop. it has had a little sputter in it since i ve had it but usually picks up and idles fine. it has only completly quit a few times until last week. i was pulling about 14000lbs and it shut off 3 times. it doesn t stop very good when not running.

does anyone have any thoughts?

Have you had the CPS recall done?

firefighter5 06-21-2011 08:26 PM

yeah i had the recall done. i thought it might be that to so i ordered one of the black ones from international that riff raff diesel was selling. didn t make any difference. i even swapped a buddy s pcm with mine. same thing no change. so it s not either of those. i m probably going to take it to the local diesel shop. don t like the thought of it shutting down on me while towing. but just wondering if it might be something else that might be going bad that could cause it.

thanks for the reply

Sticky IPR can cause that, as can weak ICP pressures.

thanks! i ve loked into one of the hpx from riff raff. it s supposed to help with icp spikes. is there anyway to clean the ipr or check it?

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

i found your post on how to remove the ipr and clean it. i ll give it a shot and let you know what happens:tu:

thanks for the help. i printed off the write up you did on ipr servicing. it fixed the rough idle, stopped the occasional skipping, and it hasn t shut off yet.

oh yeah found a deep enough socket at o reilly s. they had a 29mm axle nut socket that would work with 1/2" ratchet:tu:
