First get ride of the k&n I've heard bad things about them. Is it a drop in or a cold air intake? If it's a drop in get a cold air intake. And get an 4inch turbo back exhaust. Where did u get ur tuner or tunes?

You can't stack chips on a 7.3L...

Is your truck lifted, bigger tires, etc? If so, take those off...

Maintenance, no lifts, no big tires, using highway driving numbers, keeping the RPM's right around 2000 on highway, no smoke shows...

I think everybody needs to take a second and realize these trucks weren't made for economy, they were built to work... If you guys are looking for 30mpg, i've got a honda parked outside I'd be willing to sell you...

I understand they arent meant for economy but I know these trucks can get at least 20 mpgs. and yes its a cold air intake!:)

Realistically not so much...

I have hit 20mpg one time and that was doing 65 on the highway for the entire tank and that was a bone stock truck...

I average 15-16 in town and 18 on the highway...I drive an OBS though.

redneckpipeliner 06-08-2011 01:10 PM

I was seeing 12 or less in town driving with 2 eggs under my foot, leveling kit, 33" tires, 4" 2000 or under, maybe hitting 30mph by the time I get to the next light, in a 45 or 50 zone.

I just drive it... 10-14mpg... Is what it is... Thing weighs 8800# so...

my 2wd 95 dually gets around 17.5 mpg on highway with 4.10's and riding between 65-70mph, and i get around 12.5 hauling an empty 40' g/n weighing around 16k total empty. i have a mild ts chip, k/n cold air kit, and exhaust. 142k and counting. adding cenpeco diesel additive picks me up about 1mpg believe it or not.
