AIH Delete?

What is the purpose of the AIH delete, what does it gain you, what are the pros and cons?

PHPDiesel 06-03-2011 11:28 AM

Nothing in any context of your questioning.

??? Why are people doing it?

Makes the truck lighter.... Delete enough stuff and you become faster... 100lbs is a tenth...

:D

Wait, what, I must be confused, I thought the AIH was the air intake heater.

It is.

There's no reason to delete it. You won't feel, hear, or smell any kind of difference in the way the truck runs.

Personally, I feel that most folks claim to have done the "AIH mod" just to inflate their forum signature.

While I agree with you... There is also no reason NOT to delete it. It does nothing, blocks airflow thru the Y pipe and just adds a mess of more wires.

Delete and be done.

What kind of temps do I need to see before it would be usefull?

Extended idling below 40 degrees ambient.

Still not that useful. It's an emissions device. The last time an emissions device was actually good for anything was in the mid-60's when PCV was introduced. The dyno says that the same power is made whether or not it's there.
