tranny temp gauge
 
im going to put a tranny temp gauge in my truck when i get it bac from the tranny shop, what are the temp levels i shuld get and what shuld the tranny temp b at and whats the max it can get to with out problems

on the highway mine runs anywhere from 130 to 1six0 anything below 17five is good and where you want it to be, are you putting a bigger trans cooler in your truck??

Trannys should run 80-100 above ambient air temps...

So if its 100* out I would expect to see 180*-190* Tranny temps when pulling. Anything below 210* is fine, if you reach 220* then pull over, put the truck in N and let it idle to cool down. DO NOT turn it off, you need the fluid to run thru the trans to cool.

Over sized tranny pans do nothing, they are a great sales gimmick and thats about it. More fluid means more fluid to heat to proper operating temps, and more fluid to cool when it gets too hot.
