4r100 trans with cummins

so im in the process of the cummins swap in a 2000 f250 v10 and my next concern is being that the v10 was rated at 310hp and 425lbs with the 4r100 should i have to worry about the trans breaking with a stock 12v cummins that was rated from the factory at 210hp with 520lbs. i guess what im really wondering is where do these trans break and at what torque or hp. and im looking for answers that arent going to lead me to bts or suncoast cuz ive already researched all of that im just looking to get some insight on weather to bolt it the cummins up now and drive it for a while till the trans gives or is it gonna give within 2 days of driving then its not worth it to bolt up and ill just have to get a bts

Is the cummins stock? You should be fine with the stock 4r100 for a while if the motor is stock... If your throwin a modded cummins then I would say that tranny's days are numbered... If you're worried about it, talk to the site sponsor RacerX, and see what they have to say about making it last a little longer with things like valve body or torque converter.

yeah those were the stock numbers 210hp at 520lbs all ive done to it is put in a flecther killer b cam and 14mm headstuds

I would run it. Like I said, If you are worried about it, An upgraded valve body and torque converter will go a long way... I think BTS even does a deal where if you run his valve body, then later come in for a full build, He will deduct the valve body from the build... Not sure if he still does that but might be worth a phone call...

They break with stock power levels behind any engine. There isn't any rule of thumb to follow when looking at power input. Run it until it breaks. It may be 150 miles, it may be 150,000 miles.

^what he said, our 02 psd with a banks six gun, bighead wastegate, intake and exhaust is started to lose it's factory torque converter at 183,000 miles with a hard life of towing so I think you'd be in the safe zone with a good TC and valvebody upgrade the 4R100 is a pretty stout transmission.

i know a guy who blew his 4R100 at 50K miles with a stock engine. all the truck does is pull a goose neck with a backhoe on it tho. my dad blew the E4OD out of his 1st 95 at 50K as a daily driver. different inards but pretty much the same tranny. just depends on the tranny, should be fine tho

while you have the motor out, put a torque converter in it. it may be a lil expensive, but a TC will save trans. on my 99 dodge all i have done to the trans in a TC and a VB and its holding 550-500 hp.
