housings for stock turbo

i was looking online and came across a site that sells aftermarket turbo housings without wastegates, whats the reason or need for a non wastegated turbo, and i also saw compressor wheels fro the stock turbos but the are called anti surge wheels what is that?

Well I hoped someone else would post up but here goes...

Wastegated or not it does not really matter for the most part. That drive pressure gauge you were asking about has alot to do with wastegates, if you were to run a very small exhaust housing (like the .84 that comes factory in the superdutys) and large injectors, you would have high drive pressures when you were pushing the truck hard. When that happens the wastegate will open and relieve some of that pressure...

Or...

You can go with a bigger exhaust housing which will also lower the drive pressures on the turbo, however a larger housing can lead to slower spool at low RPM's... Its a trade off.

The compressor wheels are just that, a bandaid for surge issues. They are not a performance upgrade at all, infact they move slightly less air for a given RPM.

o ok thankx, so basicly i wouldnt have any use for eather the housing or compressor wheel

It this point I would not. If you go with some slightly larger injectors a 1.00 housing is a good deal... Otherwise just save your money and get a 38R.

well my master plan is to eveutually run hybrids and a modded h2e, but i didnt kno if the wheel or housing would help my with a little more power for towing until i can do the build
