A few little things
Ok so I a few little things that don't work or act up one is the od light on the shifter handle comes on randomly would it be a short?
Two the door ajar thing has issues with all doors but the drivers door like u open it for a min or so close it and the truck still thinks it's ope. Those are the two I can think of now |
Im not sure about you door issue my truck is doing that also. I had the same problem with my OD light a while back and everything i read pointed to an internal transmission problem, i took it to the shop before it did to much damage and they said it was a electrical short in the braking system somewhere, bassically the short was always telling my truck the brakes where applied so the TC wouldent stay locked up. im not sure why that caused the light to flash but they say they fixed the short and it hasnt happen since. hope this helps!

Is the OD light flashing when it comes on?

No it just comes on when in drive and if I push the lever back towards the dash board it goes off and it's going and staying in is when the light comes on that's y I think it's a short so where would I start to look?

You could pull the column cover apart and follow the wires. That would be an easy check. Other than that, I'm not really sure.

just FYI the o/d light on the shifter is also your trans warning light i wouldnt just brush it off unless you find the short. if it starts flashing each flash means one dollar in repair costs.:td:

Still might be worth hooking to a scanner. The flashing of the OD button usually means the trans is setting a code. That's why my initial question was, is it flashing when it happens?

Would my edge evo pick up the code? If not take it to a parts store?

So I put the truck in different gears from reverse to first and moved the handle around in each gear and o can get the light to go in and off so short?

The door..... spray WD40 in the door latch and then open it and shut it a couple of times. That should fix it unless its so far gone that the sensor is out. You have to replace the whole latch. The WD40 worked on mine:tu:

on the o/d. my 96 would do that. it ended up being the 3 wires that come off the shifter were worn out and literally broken and it would some time make contact. and some times not. do you still have control of your o/d?
