they actually send it off...

they can do it for you though, to get the entire bottem end (pistons, rods, crank) done is close to 500 bucks, and as for what it is, it goes through the process which i'm not 100% sure consists of and it re aligns all the molecules in the metal to make it stronger

so getting to that point where im getting to to ready to do this what all will need to be done? i plan on doing all the work myself but dont i have to take the rods to a machine shop to have them fit the piston?

No... To fit the crank... You need to get the correct size bearings...

cryo is freezing it to around -300 F, yeah pretty chilly. lol it brings all the molecules together then when they bring it back to normal temps the molecules spread out more evenly making it stronger.

how much power can the cryo'd rods hold? a stock forged rod can hold around 500-550 (so i've been told) but what about after you cryo them? what does it bump it up to??

fordornothing 12-29-2011 07:06 PM

i have no idea. you'd have to call a company that sells/ uses/ makes them to find out.

Forged rods have proven to hold just fine in the 700 up range with good tuning...

Throw a bad tuner at them, and no rods will survive.
