how do they lift it so high?

ive been looking on youtube n theres guys jacking up thier trucks onto tractor tires but how do they get them so high? i want to make a project truck i know the milage will drop any places to find kits?

i know rize makes a 12" kit and kelderman makes a 14" but once u got over 6 or 8" kits get CRAZY EXPENSIVE. i know the kelderman (all air ride) for a 6" is like 4-5k. the way a lot of ppl do it is by installing a custom 4 link and some HUGE shocks. im with you on liking the way they look but i dont see how ppl drive them. i drove a truck with a 12" rize kit on it and that thing felt like it wanted to flip over with every semi hard turn

I read in one of the truck mags about a Kelderman 18" system with bags, I'd hate to see the price. A friend of mine in VA put a 1-ton up like that. He custom built everything over 6 months, and used 2 1/2 ton Rockwells. Total cost was over 15K and it wasn't even painted. Here's a vid, it's like Frankenstein.

first off how high do u want to go, alot of those trucks that you see on youtube that are wickid tall are usually subframed wits custome arched leaf springs or subframed with 4-link and big ass coil over shocks and thats BIG money, once they get that high u can kiss driving that bad boy on the road, a buddy of mine jus got rid of a 04 6.0 with 15 inch arched leaf spprings on 44 inch tsl ss that was his daily driver, another friend has a 07 f250 on a 18inch rize lift (which was $20,000 btw) on 46inch tires, truck lookes great but good for nothing.

im gonna have to agree with big red on this one
if you still want to do it after hearing all this then
talk to the guys at southern kustoms they do great work
here is a truck done by them

here is one on tractor tires that actually breifly shows all the underbody custom fromework and gearing diffwork and drivetrain work that needs to be done

thanks guys i was just wondering its one of those things i wana do to my truck if i won the lotto i think ill just jack my truck up with metal lifts (no suspension) or something but thanks its amazing the price tho:argh:

riddick01 03-29-2011 07:38 PM

ya its super expensive. honestly i dont see the point in goin much over 8-10 inches unless its a truck built by a shop that just sits out front (or goes to shows) to draw attention and get ur name out there

IMO. after 4 inch lifts. the truck is impracticle for any thing but saying hey, look what i got. my buddy has a 95 ford dually with a 4 inch lift and it looks awesome but any weight in the bed or on a trailer. it just drops.

Bigred7.3 03-29-2011 10:29 PM

when im dont with my truck itll b sitting on a 9 inch lift with 38's i can still pull my boat, the horse trailer, and my 53 foot goose neck trailer

then your buddy needs better shocks who does he go through right now cuz if its skyjacker or high rize i suggest new ones right off the bat they look good yes but are not sturdy enough for the daily rigours of anything except daily driving i wou say go with either bilsteins or procomp mx6 adjustables some people also swear by rancho

i have 8.5 and my truck is still fully usable and i can go just about anywhere
(exceptdrive throughs and car washes lol) but other than that i love the way it looks and get compliments on it all the time from people i dot even know
