Very hard, loping idle and white smoke
so i got home from work the other day and noticed a slight knock that wasnt normal, didnt think much about it. i havnt had any codes or anything. i got in the other day and cranked the truck up and it was a very very hard loping idle and the motor would...twist i guess. also noticed white a little white smoke constently coming from the exhaust. HELP!!!:argh:

Have you checked your fluids, Are you gaining any? Are you losing any?
How many miles on the truck? What did the smoke smell like? Fuel...Coolant? Did the idle straighten out after a the romping happened? |
fluids are fine i havnt been running it so i dont know if it is gaining any, 142,000 miles on the truck. smoke smells like fuel, and no the idle did not straighten out

Make sure to get genuine Alliant O-rings... Riff Raff (one of our sponsors) has a great deal on injector O-rings, hit him up. I always carry a spare set with me as well. |
i dont have the looping idol problem but i do have constant white smoke from the exhaust, the injectors are new the cps is new and the icp sensor is new, what is causing this problem, the truck runs the same weather the icp sensor is pluged in or not.

it smells like oil, and yes the seals in the trubo are shot, but it smokes bad when the truck sits for more then an hour, but it lightens up after the truck warsms up

Yup... Turbo...
Time for a rebuild. My wifes 38r does the same thing, if you leave it at idle for 30 minutes or so and then leave, big smoke until the oil burns out. Need to build a turbo mount for hers and throw an H2e in.:w2: |
i was thinking the turbo seals could b a cause for the smoke but wasnt sure between that or the icp sensor being the cause, i was thinking bout putting a different compressor wheel on my turbo when i get it rebuild is that a good idea or not

What are your plans for the truck? Dont dump money into the stock turbo if your going to do injectors at some point anyway. |
im not sure what my plans for the truck yet as of power, i kind of screwed myself by spending the money on stock injectors, id like to upgrade the turbo or possibly do a compound setup, what is a h2e turbo? i will eventually do injectors im just not sure which ones to get.
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- alright ive done some research on the h2e turbo and the gtp38r turbo, the h2e is 2,400 ant the gtp38r is only 1,500 the h2e only flows 7% more then the gtp38r so y is it almost a grand more? |
