oil rail plug thread size?
what is the thread type for the oil rail plugs to do a hpop crossover hose? I would like to know so I can order a adapter to AN hose.
I come up with kits but all i need is the plug size. I can make the crossover hose myself. |
I can't think of it off hand, if I can find the papers that came with mine (Strictly Diesel) I'll look and post the size up for ya.

I really appreciate it. I hate to buy when I have all the AN fitting and up 10k hose avaliable.
|
OK, unfortunately I can't find the materials listing where it was listed. But, I'm sure if you called up RiffRaff or Strictly Diesel they would be willing to let you know. But if I run across the removed plugs(I know I saved those), I'll measure them out and put it on here.

I got a riffraff kit on home that I haven't installed. I'll take a look at in the morning for you.

could i take the factory plug out and drill and tap in a 1/8npt to 6 an fitting? do a 1/4" hp hose crossover that way? basically making the fitting yourself?
I have 5000psi hose i could use... or could do it out of 1/4" id stainless tubing. Use a copper piece to mock up the bends to the adapters. |
Honestly...
Save your money. The X over line is a fad that died several years ago. It does nothing, helps nothing, and really just gives you another place to leak. The fitting is a AN-4 IIRC, It is not a NPT thread. |
i have access to the hp hoses, fittings and o-rings to make the kit....minus the oil rail adapter. figured it would not hurt for an almost free mod in my case.
|
It uses 1/2 inch straight o-ring threads. Hydraulic hose fittings with 1/2 straight o-ring fittings will fit. I used a scuba high pressure gauge with the adapter to 1/2 inch to do some tests on our f250.

Your scaring me with that one. In a dive hose 1/2" denotes the size of the hose, not the thread of the fitting. The fact that its lucky enough to be a 5ORB thread doesn't mean its a good idea to do what you did. The 5K gauge used in dive consoles is for gases, not liquids, the internals of the gauge are not designed to be in contact with liquids nor the hose in contact with petroleum oils. Next you'll say you had an old Datatrans, 750GT or an Aladin X and stuck the remote transmitter in the oil port so you could wear around your HPOP gauge. This was one idea you should of kept to yourself.
