Exhaust back pressure valve

i Have a 1999 7.3L PSD, How do i keep that loud hissing piece of crap from coming on (EBPV). ive heard you can turn it into an exhaust brake of sorts, has anyone heard of this or know how?:argh:

you can make it an exhaust break. there is a 2 wire plug on the left side of the compressor housing ant the front. find the power wire. cut it. connect to the wire coming from the plug. make sure it's not the end going to you pcm. you will fry it. then run it inside the cab to a switch. take another wire from the pos. side of the battery and go the the other terminal on the switch. turn it on and it should close. or if you don't want to do that. just unplug it. it will probably give an EBPV fault code or some thing similar...

The plug is under the turbo on the pedistal, not up on the compressor housing.

To the original poster, the valve is there for a reason. Its built to help warm the motor up when its cold. If you dont like it, plug your truck in, or let it warm up properly.

Its turning on, because its doing its job.
